9 Months on 9-09-09

Morning! I should have posted this yesterday BUT look who turned 9 months old on 9-09-09! EMMA!!! She is the sweetest puppy still and she weighs in at 45 pounds now!

Here's Emma being silly while I try to take her picture! She was trying to jump at the camera. She was sitting so nice with me watching the Detroit Tigers.

Here she is in her Tiger jersey! We are in the pennant race and currently first place in our whatever you call it! LOL! The lingo of baseball still catches me up...but we are 5 1/2 games ahead of Minnesota right now. GO TIGERS!!!!

Not all too much going on here...I am "trying" to be crafty but little Miss Emma will have nothing of it unless she's asleep. She really is like having a 3 year old child! LOL!
Hope all is well with all of you!!! WELCOME to all my new followers!!! Have a great day one and all!!!

Lucky Me and a Sneak Peek!

Hello!!! Hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend!!! We made our first trip to the apple orchard and the cider was wonderful!!! It was a real good weekend here!

Unfortunately, the company my daughter's boy friend worked for went out of business last week. Lucky for me, he brought me all of their outdoor upholstery samples!!!! OH the POSSIBILITIES!!! I already cut some pieces for a Fall Swap project!!! I am so excited and go through all the samples every day!

A small sampling of the samples he brought me!

Like I said I'm participating in a fall swap hostessed by Lori of Morning Glories and Moonflowers. I am having fun coming up with fall goodies for my swap box. Here is a sneak peek of one of my projects....
Any guesses????

The great reveal will come after my partner Chrissie of Chrissie Grace receives her package. (It won't be going out until closer to the end of the month). I think she will like it! I've been so anxious to use this pattern and now I have the perfect person to make this for!
What have you all been up to???
Have a great night!!!
Hugs!

I've Been Crafting and Thrifting!

Morning!!! It's a beautiful day here! Hope you are all are enjoying beautiful weather too!!!

Well, I've been crafting!!! I am working on a Fall Swap package, yo-yo's of course, and pencil holders. I don't think I've told you guys that my daughter has gotten her first teaching job!!! She is an official teacher! She is working in Detroit at a charter school and the past 3 weeks they have been preparing their rooms and doing lesson plans. The students arrive Tuesday and my daughter has the 7/8 grade science classes. She's very excited and so are we!!! Anyways....she asked me to make some bright colored pencil holders for her room. Here they are...

I had an empty baking powder container and a paint can. I have tons of paper and ribbon, so not a problem!

Here they are all done!

Ready to use!
In my quest to re-do the apartment on the cheap and furnish it the same...I found myself at the Salvation Army again. I love that place! Here's what I found...
A pretty baking dish for only $1.50.

I found 3 of these pretty pale blue mini casseroles which were made in France. I wish I could remember the name. These were brand new with the Made in France stickers on them.
These were $2.99 each.

I couldn't get a very good picture of these canisters. They are a much prettier pink than they look here. They are metal and a great size for the pantry. I love them! They were $2.99 each too.
Well, I am off to finish the laundry and do a bit of shopping. Have a wonderful day!!!

Our Trip to Milwaukee

Morning!!! While I was in Chicago, Dave set up a dinner with a co-worker and his wife from the Milwaukee plant. We met them in the Historic Third Ward at the Milwaukee Ale House, a microbrewery on the river. We ate dinner on the patio overlooking the river and watched the boats and ducks float by. Here are a few pics of our lovely night out on the town.

The flowers downtown were beautiful!

I love all the historic buildings.

The week's activities at the ale house.

The sunset was so pretty!

We found a nice little sitting area, after dinner, looking over the river.

A tour boat all lit up at night.
~~~~~
We had the bestest time! As a rememberance of the night I made a black and white collage frame for the couple we went with. They just got a new apartment too, they too are living in 2 states just like us. They are in the process of decorating too, hope they like the pictures!
Hope you're all having a great week! A BIG WELCOME to my new followers! I was very excited to see new followers! Have a wonderful day!!!
More on the Apartment
Hello! Sorry, this was suppose to get done yesterday! It has just been one headache (literally) after another and now the fibromyalgia is showing it's ugly head. But enough of that! Here are a couple close ups of the apartment makeover. This whole makover was done on the cheap. The wall hanging is from Bed Bath and Beyond...this was the most expensive piece...with a coupon it came to $40-ish.
Here you see an amber bowl. I picked this up when I was shopping, with Michelle from Treasure the Moment, at the Salvation Army. I think it cost $5. The picture frame I had and the tall glass apothecary I found on clearance for $7 at Marshall's. I still need to find some filler for it.
This pitcher I, also, found on clearance at Marshall's for only $3!!! Couldn't beat the price!
I will be posting more pictures from our trip soon. I'm off to pull my lunch out of the oven. Have a great day! It's really fall like here...62 degrees and rain...yuck!
I'm Back With Apartment Pictures!!!
Morning!!! I'm back from Chicago and I bring apartment pictures with me!!! I would have posted sooner, this week, but I've had migraines all week. I don't know what's up with that! Onto the pictures!
The dining area hutch before.
The hutch after! We did move the wall hanging up a bit higher after taking this picture. I have closeup photos to show you tomorrow.
The kitchen above the sink before.
After! So much better. Sorry about the glare. The weather wasn't cooperating for pretty pictures.
It was fun making over the place. Now it feels so nice to walk in and see such pretties! :-)
Thank you all for your sweet comments about Cocoa. It's getting easier but we sure do miss her around here! You are all soooo wonderful!!! Thank you again!!!
Have a great day and I'll post some close-ups tomorrow!!!
Hugs!
Sad News
Morning! I have sad news...last Wednesday our Cocoa passed away. She had been diagnosed with cancer in December and given 6-8 weeks to live but she made it almost 8 months! She fought a good fight with only maybe 7 really sick days over the last 2 months. Tuesday she spent the day running, playing, barking, eating and plain old enjoying life! I won't go into the details of Wednesday but it wasn't good...she passed away at home, which I am happy about. She waited to pass away until my daughter had left to apply for a job and I had gone to get a neighbor to help me. She was the best dog! We are all incredibly sad! We will miss you Cocoa!
In other news...my son is home for a week from Oklahoma! He has lots of plans, of course! He is going to re-mulch for me though! :-) My daughter has an interview at a Detroit charter school on Thursday...she is excited! Hopefully, she will get the job...it would be good experience.
Next week is our 25th wedding anniversary so we have lots of things planned to do in Chicago. I will be taking lots of pics to show you plus before and afters of our apartment...I've been picking up things to make it feel more like home. When we first got the apartment we didn't plan to do much with it because we thought our house would sell and we'd permanently move to Chicago. The economy has made that very difficult so now it's time to make the apartment our home away from home. I love the things I've found and can't wait to see them all in place!
Hope you all are enjoying the last weeks of summer...our pumpkins are almost all orange and the leaves are starting to change here!
Hugs!
