OMG!!!

OMG!!! I feel like I'm running a race but the gun went off and I didn't hear it...now I'm a lap behind! It's for a very good reason though...my daughter got ENGAGED on Saturday!!! Pictures to come! Not only did she get engaged but the wedding is in 7-8 months depending on when/where we can get a reception site. So OMG I'm already behind on this one! Everything needs to get worked on ASAP! I have lots of crafty plans in my head for the engagement party, shower and wedding. Pictures to come with the progress!

I'll be back soon I hope to keep you updated and to show you pictures!

Snippets of Christmas

Morning! I am sloooowly getting better and sloooowly pulling things out of Christmas boxes and decorating. I went to the doctor yesterday and I have bronchitis which is sticking around because my thyroid levels are so low that I'm having a hard time fighting it off. Sooo...this year I am not decorating as much as in years past, I just don't have the energy right now. I'd, also, like to thank everyone for their prayers and concern...you are the bestest!

Here are some snippets of what I have done...

A gift from my daughter, her boyfriend and my hubby last year. I LOVE it!

A little berry tree in the dining room.

From the tree in the family room.

We brought a little Mickey Christmas home with us.

Sparkly Santa, he makes me smile.
Today, I will decorate the last tree and try to put away some of the boxes. Tomorrow, I hope to bake some cookies for hubby's work party. I hope you're having a great time getting ready for Christmas!

Just Plain Sick

Just plain sick and tired of being sick and tired. Hope to be back sooner rather than later with a good update but tomorrow I plan to visit the doctor. Ugh! This just isn't the season to be sick and tired of being sick and tired!

Hope you all are having a great time getting ready for the holidays!

Hello From Chicago

Hello! I am at our apartment just outside of Chicago for the Thanksgiving week. Hubby and I have been horribly sick, with an upper respiratory virus, ever since we came home from Disney World. All I can say is yuck and we just don't feel well.

So, all my crafty plans for last week...didn't happen. Sigh! I have paper and rubber stamps piled up on the kitchen table, back home, awaiting me to create Christmas cards...next week. So, yeah...I'm a week behind during the busiest time of the year. Oh well. What gets done gets done.

While I'm here in Chicago, I brought this project with me. I really want to finish it before it gets to be too late to wear it! It is a lot of work! All the hand embroidery is taking me FOREVER! So, that's one of my goals this week...get as much of this scarf done as possible.

Sorry, no pictures. I don't have the means on this old computer here in the apartment. Have a great week and WONDERFUL Thanksgiving! So much to be thankful for!

I Saw A Mouse!!!

Yep, I saw a mouse...Mickey Mouse!!! We took a much needed vacation after a most stressful year! (I try to keep all the stress out of my blog but yes it has been a horrible year at our house!) Mickey took the stress away! :-D I LOVE the parade at Magic Kingdom!!!

Mickey!!!
~~~~~
While we were there, Disney World started to celebrate their new princess movie...The Princess and the Frog...WOW what a great celebration on the riverboat! They put on an amazing New Orleans style show! We loved it, especially my dad!
Here she is Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen. The cast of the riverboat show all danced off the boat and down the streets of Magic Kingdom. It was awesome!
~~~~~
So I have had a long time away from crafting and I need to make a list to get things done by Christmas! I think I can, I think I can...LOL!
Hope you all are Celebrating Today! (That's what Disney says to do, so I am trying! Praying for less stress in the coming year!)
Have a great day!

Inspired

I have been inspired by Chrissie Grace, she sent me one of her handmade bookmarks for our Fall Swap. Do you see the bookmark??? It says Simplify. I have been wanting to try these for a long time and when I received this one from Chrissie I became even more inspired.

Now, mine are not as wide and the handwriting not quite as nice as Chrissie's but what do you think? I think I'm better at sewing on cardboard than fabric...lol!

These colors are prettier in person. We are having yet another gloomy day and it's hard to get good pictures.

I have a couple Christmas ones ready to be sewn but I need thread. I think these will make nice add-ons for Christmas gifts this year.
Hope you're having an inspired day!

One Last Halloween Post

Hello!!! This is a first for me...here is picture of me on my blog! Emma and I sort of look like a garden, I'm a flower and she is a pumpkin. She LOVED Halloween and standing on the porch while the kids came up for candy. She even had her picture taken by a new fan! When it was all over she ran away when I wanted to take her costume off...can't say that I blame her, it was freezing and it was probably a nice warm coat to her!

Hope you all had a great weekend!!! OH...guess what we bought today??? A prelit Christmas tree...bring on the holidays!

Happy Almost Halloween!!!

Welcome to my front porch! Please ignore the faded front door...new paint on the spring agenda!
Hope you all have a Happy and safe Halloween!!! Pictures of Emma in her costume to come next week!

All of the pumpkins are from our patch!

I love all the leaves scattered around!

One of the nooks of our porch. See the scars on the pumpkin on the ground? The mice were nibbling on him when he was still in the patch.

The other nook.
Once again...Happy Halloween :-}

A Little Bit of Emma

Hi everyone!!! It's a very gloomy day here today but here's a bit of sunshine...

She lights up our lives, our little Emma. She was the runt of the litter and is still on the small size although she is 50 pounds. Emma is now 10 1/2 months old and she's still sooo good! She never really did the bad puppy stuff. Emma LOVES everyone and LOVES to play with her sister kitties.

Sorry for the tilty photo...I took it from the bottom of the steps and couldn't see the screen real well. Hope she brings light to your day!

Hat Update

Hi everyone! There has been a delay on the delivery of my hats to the Ronald McDonald House. The first delay, I have 4 purple hats to do but I need to pick up more fabric...tomorrow! Second delay, my daughter has been sick and I was afraid of taking any germs I may be carrying to sick children...fortunately I decided to do that because my daughter was diagnosed with Whooping Cough today. This was her 4th visit to the doctor in 5 weeks. First, they thought it was an upper respiratory infection, then a virus and then Asthmatic Bronchitis but today with still a horrible cough after antibiotics and breathing treatments...Whooping Cough. She is fully vaccinated yet still caught it, possible from a student at the school she teaches at (???? don't know for sure). So, now we wait to see if anyone else gets it, though we all should've by now since she's out of the contagious stage (yep, we're all vaccinated to but I hear it may wear off over time). All that to say...the hats will be delivered when we return from vacation mid-November.
Hope you all are having a great week so far!!!

A Few Touches of Fall

Morning! A couple of weeks ago, I finally added a few touches of fall to the house. I didn't do much because I've been traveling more to Chicago and trying to keep up 2 places is really hard! I pray the economy improves sooner than later so we can get back to having just 1 place again!

Enjoy the pics...

The clock shelves in the foyer.

My great grandma's chair in the foyer. It could really use a big pumpkin on the floor.

A not so great shot of the nook in the foyer. Click to enlarge, I think it looks better that way.

A little white pumpkin in the living room.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Blue Hat Gone Green

Hello! So, today I needed to work on some more hats that I'm donating to the Ronald McDonald House for kids with cancer. I found some cute hats at the Target Dollar Spot but I didn't have any matching fabric on hand and I didn't really want to go to the fabric store (yeah, I know...GASPS!). That's when I remembered a skirt that no longer fits which has beautiful embroidery...take a look...

Pretty skirt...wish it still fit!

Pretty flower in just the right colors!

Another pretty flower.

Here's the hat...I ended up using the hem of the skirt for the top yo-yo and the lining for the bottom one.
Yo-yo close up!
So there you have it...a Blue Hat Gone Green! Total cost just over a $1.00!!! I love it!
Hope you're all having a great day!!!

Fall Swap

Morning!!! I am back from Chicago as of this weekend and trying to get back into the swing of things here. Hubby's kidney stone appears to be gone on x-ray, hurray! Now we can focus on everything else again.

I recently participated in a Fall Swap hostessed by Lori (such a sweetie!) and my swap partner was Chrissie Grace (oh so talented!!!). This was a very fun swap to be in! I didn't get a chance to take pictures of everything, that I sent Chrissie, with hubby in the hospital at the time of mailing but I know she posted them on her blog. I do have one picture though...

I made her a stuffed wool felt owl. She said she wanted to add more owls to her fall decor.
Here is what she sent to me...I LOVE EVERYTHING!!!
Chrissie and I sent each other acorns! Too cool! A really cool bookmark, she made. Some rocks that she painted (she paints beautifully! Check her out!)

A closer view of the rocks and other items.
THANK YOU AGAIN CHRISSIE!!!

I have lots of projects that I'm working on. I will be delivering the embellished hats to the Ronald McDonald House this weekend. I need to get going on my flower scarf again! And I have a ton of ideas floating around in my head! Sooo much to do...soooo little time with the housework and all too! How do you all do it!?! What's the secret!?! I see so many finished projects out there and I'm always in the middle of one. Hmmm!?!
Well, have a great day everyone!

Sorry I've Been Gone and a Winner!!!

Morning!

Sorry no photos today. I am at our apartment in Chicago with no access to my photos. I'm here since my husband had a kidney stone, poor guy! He fortunately got hit with it on Oct. 3 hours before he was to return here to Chicago for work. I ended up taking him to the ER and it was a 5.5mm stone. Once he was clear for travel we came back here (I couldn't send him back here alone just in case it moved again...OUCH!) and returned once for a follow-up appt. The x-ray showed no sign of a stone yesterday!! YAY! I had already planned to come back to Chicago so we packed up Emma and hit the road. Sooo...long story short...I am still alive and haven't forgotten you and my blog. Just been busy!

We do have a winner for the yo-yo hat...Sara from Sara's Art House!!! Congratulations Sara...you can email me your address at dkccv@comcast.net. Thank you to all who entered!!!

I have been busy making hats for kids with cancer...MckMama is the inspiration for this project! When my hats are done my hubby and I will be delivering them to our local Ronald McDonald House. If you feel inspired...you can join in the cause!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!!! Next post will have pictures!

150th Post and a Giveaway!

Morning!!! I just realized this is my 150th post. I had been planning a giveaway today and now it's a bit more of a celebration! Thank you to all my followers both public and lurking!

Well...the Tigers won last night 7-2!!!! Now tonight they can potentially clinch the division title...GO TIGERS!!! GO MAGGLIO ORDONEZ!!!! (He's my Tiger!!!)

It was a beautiful night at the ballpark! It did get down to 48 degrees but it wasn't bad at all! I thought it would be bitter cold but it wasn't!

Yesterday at Target I found this tray marked down 75%! WOW! I knew it would be perfect for our apartment in Chicago. So, I finally brought the fall decor from the basement of doom and started doing some decorating in this house and picked out some things to go to Chicago. Here's what I came up with...

It's a bright sunny day here and this picture is hard to get right. You can see my inspiration/dream magazines on Emma's crate...oops...looks pretty messy!

A closer up view. I think it turned out pretty good.

Now for the giveaway. I made another yo-yo accessorized hat. I love the colors on this yo-yo. If you like it, leave me a comment. To get another chance to win, leave a separate comment letting me know you are a follower (on my sidebar). So...you have 2 chances to win!!! I will pick a winner on Monday, October 12...I know it's a ways away but I'll be away too! Good luck!!!
Brown hat with brown and pink yo-yo.

Enter to win!!!
Have a great day everyone!!! Hugs!

Emma is SOOO Jealous of....

my projects! She climbs in my lap when I pick up my hand sewing projects. I try to only sew while she sleeps but I have way too many projects on my list right now, that is not always possible any more. This morning, while I was reading blog updates, it was unusually quiet so I thought I'd better check things out. Well, little Miss Emma had my latest project in her mouth! Luckily, she had turned the flap inside out and only tore the Target price tag off! Last night she DID NOT want me working on this project and reinforced this fact this morning! Here is my project...

No signs of Emma slobber...there was some on the back ;-/
I think this hat is so pretty!
Pretty yo-yo!!!
I made this hat to wear tonight...BRRRR we have a frost advisory tonight! Tonight I will be out in the cold watching the Detroit Tigers and I do not want to freeze to death! If I had had Detroit Tiger fabric, I would have made a yo-yo with that but since I did not I went with some of my favorite colors. So at least the hat is orange and I will have my Tiger sweatshirt on, under my coat and I will bring my orange purse. GOOO TIGERS...I really want you to win this pennant race!!!
Today, I plan to go to Hobby Lobby to get some of the remaining supplies for my fall porch. I am, also, planning to keep working on my scarf. It's slowly coming along, embroidery takes a LONG time!
Hope you all have a great day!!!!

I've Been Busy....

making FLOWERS!!! Yep, I've been busy looking for patterns and cutting wool flowers! I found this amazing scarf and got busy with the cutting of wool flowers!

76 flowers to be exact!

The small ones, all 38, need to have their petals embroidered. WHEW! BUT I cannot wait to finish it and show you!
I, also, made a pretty blue flower for a tote I have. These are so cute on bags!

Oh so pretty!

Yesterday, I started decorating my porch for fall. I have few finishing touches to pick up at Hobby Lobby this week, then I will take pics for you! It was so nice to use all 11 pumpkins we grew! (We had 15 but 4 rotted early...bummer!) Fall is here, no doubt about it, rain, wind and much cooler temps. This week will be especially cool and wet. I hope we get a few nice sunny weekends to enjoy before November rolls around!
Enjoy your day! I will be embroidering flowers and drinking hot tea and of course playing with Emma in between!

9 Months on 9-09-09

Morning! I should have posted this yesterday BUT look who turned 9 months old on 9-09-09! EMMA!!! She is the sweetest puppy still and she weighs in at 45 pounds now!

Here's Emma being silly while I try to take her picture! She was trying to jump at the camera. She was sitting so nice with me watching the Detroit Tigers.

Here she is in her Tiger jersey! We are in the pennant race and currently first place in our whatever you call it! LOL! The lingo of baseball still catches me up...but we are 5 1/2 games ahead of Minnesota right now. GO TIGERS!!!!

Not all too much going on here...I am "trying" to be crafty but little Miss Emma will have nothing of it unless she's asleep. She really is like having a 3 year old child! LOL!
Hope all is well with all of you!!! WELCOME to all my new followers!!! Have a great day one and all!!!

Lucky Me and a Sneak Peek!

Hello!!! Hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend!!! We made our first trip to the apple orchard and the cider was wonderful!!! It was a real good weekend here!

Unfortunately, the company my daughter's boy friend worked for went out of business last week. Lucky for me, he brought me all of their outdoor upholstery samples!!!! OH the POSSIBILITIES!!! I already cut some pieces for a Fall Swap project!!! I am so excited and go through all the samples every day!

A small sampling of the samples he brought me!

Like I said I'm participating in a fall swap hostessed by Lori of Morning Glories and Moonflowers. I am having fun coming up with fall goodies for my swap box. Here is a sneak peek of one of my projects....
Any guesses????

The great reveal will come after my partner Chrissie of Chrissie Grace receives her package. (It won't be going out until closer to the end of the month). I think she will like it! I've been so anxious to use this pattern and now I have the perfect person to make this for!
What have you all been up to???
Have a great night!!!

I've Been Crafting and Thrifting!

Morning!!! It's a beautiful day here! Hope you are all are enjoying beautiful weather too!!!

Well, I've been crafting!!! I am working on a Fall Swap package, yo-yo's of course, and pencil holders. I don't think I've told you guys that my daughter has gotten her first teaching job!!! She is an official teacher! She is working in Detroit at a charter school and the past 3 weeks they have been preparing their rooms and doing lesson plans. The students arrive Tuesday and my daughter has the 7/8 grade science classes. She's very excited and so are we!!! Anyways....she asked me to make some bright colored pencil holders for her room. Here they are...

I had an empty baking powder container and a paint can. I have tons of paper and ribbon, so not a problem!

Here they are all done!

Ready to use!
In my quest to re-do the apartment on the cheap and furnish it the same...I found myself at the Salvation Army again. I love that place! Here's what I found...
A pretty baking dish for only $1.50.

I found 3 of these pretty pale blue mini casseroles which were made in France. I wish I could remember the name. These were brand new with the Made in France stickers on them.
These were $2.99 each.

I couldn't get a very good picture of these canisters. They are a much prettier pink than they look here. They are metal and a great size for the pantry. I love them! They were $2.99 each too.
Well, I am off to finish the laundry and do a bit of shopping. Have a wonderful day!!!
Hugs!
