Shower and a Shout Out

Morning!!! Hope you're all having a happy Tuesday!!! Last night, I went to a baby shower for a friend I've known 30 years. She just had a baby boy on Friday!!! When I made her gift, we didn't know the sex of the baby but it turns out that she used these very colors for her nusery! It was a lot of fun catching up with ladies I haven't seen in a very long time! Here are the photos of her gift from me...

Yep another gift bag! I love the soft colors of this one and Carla loved it! Inside is a green polka dot swaddling blanket, an ivory teddy bear (oh sooo soft) with brown trimmings and a teething toy that pops in the freezer. Baby things are just so stinkin' cute!

A close up of the bow. I used new and vintage ribbon, the tag was made with Stampin' Up stamps and cardstock. Oh dear, I can see my reflection in the handle of the door!

I wanted to welcome all my new blog friends!!! It is so much fun meeting new ladies! I am really excited about new friends following my blog! Big hugs to all my blog friend new and old...you ladies make me smile every day!
Have a wonderful day!!!

I Won and a Tag

Hello!!! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend! I never made it to the movies...this cold just keeps raging then fooling me by thinking it's going away only to reinvent itself and knock me on my butt again! LOL! I'm ok, I just spent a lot of time on the couch.

Look at what I won!!! Just in time for some Valentine's Day inspiration!! Jes of KadyHope had a giveaway and I won! Stop by her blog to see all her cute little cottages that she sells on her etsy! Way cool and way cute!!! Thank you so much JES!!!

I have been tagged by Karen of Ciderantiques to post 6 random things about myself. Now, I love to read these on everyone's blog but now I only hope to have some interesting things to tell you about me...hmmm...

1. I was born with some curls in my hair and then through age 22 I had poker straight hair. That is when I had Radioactive Iodine treatment for Grave's Disease. One of the side effects was thinning hair, when it started growing back it came back CURLY! It is really hard for me to blow it out straight now.

2. I just love Gone With the Wind!

3. I have only lived in Michigan until May 2007, now I spend most of my time in Michigan and a few weeks a year in our apartment in Chicago. Hubby works there now.

4. Up until 2007 I had only been on a plane twice (once in 5th grade and once when I was 29) now I fly at least 4 times a year. (I'm not a fan of flying!)

5. I dream of a house that stays clean...I think I'm too creative for that! They say the sign of a creative person is a not so perfect home! LOL! It's not that my house is horrible it just gets a bit cluttered from time to time! Like right now my crafts are taking over!

6. I am a procrastinator...and I don't like it!

I am suppose to tag others but I say "TAG YOU'RE IT!"

I hope you all have a wonderful Monday!!! I have to finish that baby shower bag before 7 pm (I have procratinated long enough!!!)

Hugs!

Valentine's

Yeppers, 2 posts in one day! Did you check out that blouse in my last post??? If I win it, I sure hope it fits...I LOVE IT...so unique! The headband too...I love birds!

I've been working on Valentine's the last 2 days. They are all the same but oh do I like them. The cards are from, you guessed it, the Target Dollar Spot, 8 cards for $1 with envelopes!!! They are really nice and sturdy cards. Then I embellished them with stamps and ribbon. Hope you enjoy (sorry for the poor photos...like I keep saying...I need a new camera!)

The weekend is finally here and my cold is sooo much better today! After I posted yesterday I just felt awful...sore all over and CRANKY and just plain yucky! Whatever bug I had must have hit it's peak but today, I'm tons better! I think this weekend would be a good time for a movie date night. The Oscar's are approaching and I'd like to see at least a couple of the nominated movies before the big event.
Have a great weekend!!! Hugs!

Back With Some Yo-Yo's

Hello! I'm back and rested. I got some sleep the last 2 nights! Thank you all so much for your well wishes and prayers! The cold is hanging on but it's not a bad one, thank goodness!

Here is a little yo-yo project for my half bathroom. The frame is from Target's Dollar Spot. They come in a package of 3 for $2.50. They come in white, black and natural. I stocked up! My stamp club likes to use these frames.

(Click to enlarge)
I did change the hanger ribbon from black to green.

I, also, had to remove the glass because it was too thick to keep it in. Want to know how I found that out??? I tried squeezing it in and the glass exploded! LOL! Not a good idea.
~~~~~
That's all from here. I am off to finish some Valentine's that I started. Have a great day! Hugs!!
Be Back Soon
Hello everyone! Just wanted to let you know I'll be back soon. My computer isn't reading my camera's memory card and I'm not feeling very well. Just some insomnia (it happens from time to time with fibromyalgia) that has brought on a cold. Praying for some sleep!
Ok enough of that...I do have photos to share when I can get my daughter's card reader...more yo-yo's (big surprise!).
Hope you all are doing great! Hugs!
An Award and the Yo-Yo Returns!
Good afternoon ladies!!! I have an award to share and some yo-yo projects! Yes the yo-yo's live on! First off, this sweet award from a very sweet friend, Angie of Sandals and Daisies. If you haven't been to her blog, head on over! She is so sweet and loving and has a wonderful family. We have become really good friends over the past few months...hugs to you Angie!
I pass this award on to all of blogging friends! You have all been so wonderful to me with all that has been going on these last few months! I am so blessed to have met such wonderful ladies! Some of whom I've gotten to know more personally through emails and such. Love you guys!
Next up, the Yo-Yo lives on...lol! I think I will always be making yo-yo's! I'm thinking of opening an etsy shop. What do you think? My first project to show you are some gloves...
(Before)
(After)
The gloves were quick and easy and look really cute on! I always have a pair of these type of gloves in my pocket! I even took a pair to Florida in 2004 when I was going on a cruise. It was sooo cold there, which we didn't expect and neither did a lot of others waiting in line to board! Everyone was asking where I got gloves!
Next, I saw a scarf at Anthropolgie when I was in Chicago. I loved it so much but I didn't love the $68 price tag! It was a short scarf that snapped around the neck. This is my rendition...I would do a few things differently if I were to make one again but I'm happy with it...especially the less than $10 price tag!
(Before)
Vanna White's yarn from Michael's on sale! Fat quarter bundle from Joann's (I used a 40% off coupon). I have a bunch of fabric left so I may be making a yo-yo bag soon!
(After)
Oops, the corner tucked under. The green isn't showing up as vibrant as it really is. I tried color adjusting it but it didn't work very well. I'm loving these bright colors and it goes so well with my lime green Columbia Jacket (on clearance this summer for $40!!!! Saved $160!!! at Dick's Sporting Goods...gotta love a bargain!!!)
I hope you all are staying warm! It sure was cold this morning...-9! (Without the windchill) At least I'm not in Minnesota or the other colder states! Have a wonderful day!!! Hugs!
Fun Stuff
Morning! Hope you all are warm and cozy this morning! When I woke up it was -2! I know it much colder west of Michigan though, so I am a bit grateful! I have some photos to share with you this morning. Believe it or not, I actually finished a project! It was quick and easy!
( Before)
This scrapbook paper is from Scrapbook Kit in a Stack the Love and Wedding pack. I found it at Joann's on clearance last week. The heart paperweight is from Target's Dollar Spot. I have seen on other blogs that I'm not the only one with this idea...go to Thoughts that Stick to see more see what Artchick did with hers.
(After)
I used Modge Podge to glue the paper to the back of the heart. Trace the heart on the paper, cut out, apply glue to heart back and let dry. So easy! I am going to make more of these today and show you them in the next few days.
This is one of the gifts I sent to Angie of Sandals and Daisies for our swap over Christmas. The frame was on clearance at Michael's this past fall, the paper is from Stampin' Up and the A is from a small kit at the Dollar Tree. Another quick and easy project.
Just a photo of how I decorated my frame for Christmas. I found the 2 blue ornaments at the hospital gift shop when my dad had his surgery. It looked prettier in person. I need to get photos yet...my plans to go to the ocean at Christmas didn't pan out so maybe this spring at a park instead.
I had a birthday over the holidays (Dec. 22) and these 2 bottles my daughter's (in the photo) boyfriend gave me. He got them to go with my perfume bottle collection.
This cute chicken and rooster potholder set was a birthday gift too. These are from dd's bf's grandma. She is the sweetest lady. I now officially have a rooster kitchen...much to hubbies dismay. He told me it's ok though since I will change the decor in 2 years knowing me anyway. Hehe!
I hope you all have a wonderful day...laundry and more hearts are calling my name and I think I hear the scarf I'm trying to finish chiming in! Hugs!!!
A Couple Gifts and Prizes to Share
Morning!!! We sure had a snowy weekend! 7 inches fell on Saturday and now tonight we are suppose to get up to 5 more and I just heard up to 6 more on Wednesday. This Alberta Clipper isn't only bring snow but frigid temps! Friday morning it is suppose to be around -5 with a high of only 5-7. Yikes! Well the snow is good because my daughter and her boyfried decided to try a new hobby...snowshoeing. So, they ordered snowshoes from REI and are hoping the snow stays until the 22nd of January when they can pick up those snowshoes. I have always wanted to try snowshoeing...maybe a good Christmas gift for me and hubby this coming Christmas.
During the craziness of December I did a Christmas swap and won a blog giveaway. I want to share some pics with you today. (They didn't load in the order I thought but it will have to do today).
First the Christmas swap...I swapped with Angie from Sandals and Daisies. Angie is such a sweet friend. I am so sorry I couldn't get more pics...I was in such a hurry with everything going on!
I love elves!!! This cute little elf she made for me! Thank you Angie!!! I'm sorry for the blurry pic, I really do need a new camera!
This how pretty the box she sent me looked like.
Next, I won a giveaway from Heather at Hopscotch & Hydrangeas. This snowman is sooo cute and you can find earrings like these in her Etsy shop!
I love these earrings!!! So pretty! Thanks so much Heather!!!
Isn't he cute!?!
I hope you all keep warm and have a wonderful day! I am trying my bestest to work on some winter and Valentine's to share with you all! My upstairs is in desperate need of cleaning! If anyone had a medical emergency upstairs, I'd have to drag them by their feet downstairs so the emergency crew didn't have to see the mess! (Bad I know and of course I am joking...a little!)
Hugs!
Highlights of Disney
Hello!!! Here are some of my favorites...we had to take most of the pics while on the move. There were way too many people to be able to stop and take a perfect photo or to even enjoy the view for long.
I love the landscaping at the parks.
A pretty view of the Epcot ball...can't remember the official name! Until our trip, I never knew there was a ride inside the ball!
More pretty trees.
My favorite part of Disney. The castle is sooo beautiful!!!
Walking down the mainstreet of Magic Kingdom toward the castle. That's my daughter in the orange. Look at all those people!!!
Cinderella and her prince during the parade. I loved this Christmas parade!
Mickey and Minnie at the parade.
This is a rollercoaster the Everest. My daughter and her bf went on this one.
One of hubby's favorites...gorillas.
The Michigan State football team was at Disney's Blizzard Beach for a friendly game of putt-putt with a Georgia team. They had a bowl game on New Year's Day. I snuck this pic before security could shoo me off. We LOVED Blizzard Beach!
I didn't take as many pics as I wanted because of the crowds but these were some of my favorites. We didn't even get a whole family pic because you just couldn't move. I have a few of individuals and that's all.
Today is a cold and slightly snowy day. Last night there was awful icing on the roads just south of us. It's so sad to hear that 3 people were killed in accidents last night. Be careful out there if you're out and about with all this crazy weather in the U.S.!!!
Have a great day!!! Hugs!
Happy New Year!
Hello!!!
I am finally back! No pics yet but I am back! Who comes home from Disney and has nightmares for days about the place...ME! Our vacation started out with an ice storm on the way to the airport...cars spinning out all over the place. We left very early 9 am so we got to our plane in plenty of time (it was leaving at noon). We got on the plane and sat on the runway for 3 hours. We were flying into Atlanta to get a connector to Florida. Well, first Atlanta was fogged in and then their radar went completely down. Needless to say, we missed our connection. We were put on standby along with over 100 others. Atlanta's airport is HUGE and we had to RUN from one end of the airport to the other with trams in between with every Orlando flight. We did this 5 times and then my hubby was able to fly out at 11 pm to meet our son, who had been waiting in Orlando's airport for 11 hours. So off my daughter, her bf and I run like mad to the next Orlando flight. We were 38, 39, and 40 on the wait list, I was praying we'd get on this flight but it seemed hopeless. Then finally we were the last 3 called, I think they pulled us up because they had 3 seats close together. Hurray, we arrived in Orlando around 12:30 am. We met up with hubby and son who had gotten the rental car.
We got to our condo and it was beautiful! We got a 3 bedroom condo for the price of an Embassy Suite room, not bad. The boys had 2 full sized beds in their room, our daughter had a king sized bed in her room and the master suite had a king sized bed too. We were sooo tired and just crashed.
The next day we went to visit my parents. My dad is still pretty weak but looks good. He's starting to regain his appetite which is really good.
The next 4 days were spent in Disney. Oh my word was it crowded! I expected crowds but the people at Disney said that there were more people than they ever expected. The parks were shut down every day because they were full. It was beautiful in Magic Kingdom with all the Christmas decorations and oh what a wonderful parade! I will show you pics soon! That was my favorite park! We spent New Year's Eve in Epcot and you could hardly move! After dark we walked toward the countries and I fell so hard, just so many people and tripped. No one in my group even noticed. I had to try to find them after I got up. I think I am too old for the crowds and noise!
We are going to go again (hubby and I with my parents) at the end of this year during a quieter time. I know I will enjoy it more then. I am very grateful that we got our whole family together and dd's bf. We did all have a great time despite the crowds. I just know I will enjoy it that much more without the crowds.
After we got home I did have nightmares about the crowds and the darkness of night. Last night, no nightmares so I must be good now. I have slept so much since getting home. Three 20-somethings can wear you out! They have way more energy than me!
I hope you all had wonderful holiday's and happy new years! I missed you all!
(Our dog is doing well right now. The vet said she would be act normal until the cancer starts bleeding again when it returns. I am nervous every morning when I go to check on her. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers!)
Back with pics soon!
Hugs!
Kim
