Frankenmuth

Hello all!!!
We had a great time in Frankenmuth. The day started out foggy and gloomy and ended sunny-ish, some clouds and haze. The pictures looked sunnier than it really seemed to me. We started out at Bronner's. We spent about 2 and a half hours here. I did come home with a bunch of new ornaments for this Christmas and a few for gifts. I am going back in October for a ladies day, and will be picking up a few more gifts. There is soooo much to see! We learned that they have 26,000 visitors a day and that the electric bill is $1,000.00 a day to run the place!

The west entrance to Bronner's.

After lunch at Oma's at the Bavarian Inn Lodge we headed across the wooden bridge to take the riverboat tour. It was fairly interesting. We did learn a few interesting facts like the bridge took 2 years to build and 2 oxen that walked for (I forget how many) days to pull it across the river. The river is the Cass River.

The Bavarian Belle.

The covered bridge, it has name and it escapes me! Sorry!

Another view of the bridge.

The River Place, lots of shopping here! The hot buttered popcorn is here too but I was too stuffed from lunch :-(

This water fall starts up at the River Place and travels all the way to the river.
A fall display at The River Place.

After the River Place we headed into town and went through some of the shops and tried some cheese at the cheese shoppe. I didn't buy much, just a few stocking stuffers and some candy. We had a fun filled day though.

Sunday was filled with grocery shopping and errands. Had to stock up the Chicago apartment with food. I try to do this on Friday's but I rested this last Friday and hubby forgot to email me a list. Oh well. This weekend we will get some relaxing at home in.

I hope you all had great weekends too! Have a great day! Hugs!

Hi Kim,
That was a fun outing and thanks for sharing. I so enjoy pictures on posts :) That sure a lot of work for you, having your hubby home only on the weekends. I would just want to do fun stuff with him. How are you feeling...
You take care.

It does look like a terrific day. I love going to our local German villages--the Amana Colonies. The food is awesome and they have some pretty cool customs and crafts. My great-grandmother came directly from Germany and it is a delightful memory--remembering her accent and slips into German....

Oh my word, Kim...I LOVE Frankenmuth!!!! Isn't it such a quaint little town? We only live about a half hour from there!!! I was just there a few weeks ago visiting my aunt & her family while they were staying at the Bavarian Lodge. (They were up from OH for our family reunion that ended up getting rained out.)

Hope your week is wonderful!

Hugs,
Michelle

Wow, I would love to get to visit there someday. Do they have cheesy touristy shops? I LOVE those!! The closest thing I've been to here in California is Solvang, which is a Danish town, just north of Santa Barbara. It wasn't far from where I was born and grew up. Thanks for all of the pictures!

Hi Kim: That looks like such a great little trip! The scenery is just gorgeous--you took some great photos. The Christmas store is huge, isn't it? I clicked on the link and was amazed at it! Not wonder it took you that long to get through it!!! What fun.

Hope you're feeling OK---not overdoing!

Have a good rest of the week! Dana

Hi Kim, Great post! I ordered ornaments from Bronner's last year! ...tractor and farming ornaments for my husband's tree in his study! I believe I could spend many hours there if I went in person! LOL!

Hope you are having a great week! ~Rhonda :)
