Step 2: Practice cutting with a rotary blade. I had never done this before...practice, practice, practice. Ok...got some good pieces. Now...practice straight lines and following the guide. Hey, that wasn't too hard. I think I finally have it down. The yellow piece was my first attempts and the white one is much straighter. I even tried quilting...FUN!
Next...fabric in pretty colors to go with our Chicago apartments inherited (from hubby's old boss's) furniture. We are so grateful for this IKEA furniture but the boss's wife's style wasn't mine. So I'm trying to add our own touch. I'm going to attempt a small quilt...GASP!

Hope you all are having a great week! Hugs!

Lots of luck to ya, Kim...I wouldn't have a clue where to begin! Be sure to share with us your first finished project!
You can do it! You can do it!lol Hi Kim! Hope you are having fun with that REALLY nice sewing machine! I had trouble with the book my instructions were in because I couldn't find the english!!!lol If you've sewn once you relearn quickly!!! JUST BE CAREFUL TO KEEP HANDS TO SIDE OF BLADE AND NOT AT THE TOP OF CUTTING!!!! Can't wait to see the finished quilt - looks like a fun kit! Have Fun - Jeannette
I love that fabric you are ironing! I don't have a sewing machine but sure wish I did. When I do get one though..I know who I am going to call to give me a lesson! :-) We have some sunshine here today..yay! How are things up there?
Wishing you much luck Kim, but something tells me that you don't need it. :o)
Best wishes...you can do it!
Hi Kim!!
Glad to see you blew the dust off that machine and you're gonna make a comforter for your Chicago pad!! It's a great way to practice those "straight stitches"!! I love your fabric selections--you'll have to show us your completed project!!
It's going to be 70 here tomorrow!! We reached 60 today!! Oh, I'm lovin' it so!
Hope all is well otherwise with you--sounds like you have found some great bargains!! Keep it up! Dana
I got a new sewing machine for Christmas and I've used it a couple of times. I really would love to try a quilt ( a small one would be best) but I'm too scared to try!
I'll be watching you for inspiration on this!
take care,
Dawn
Hey-you got a new machine! Congrats! Looks very nice.
I'm sure it will be a lot of fun to play with. And I know your sewing skills will come back easily.
I'm not ready to try a quilt yet. I'm not so afraid of the cutting, piecing or sewing-I'm more afraid of actually *quilting* it. Best wishes on your project. Looking forward to seeing it when you're done.
I am afraid of my sewing machine. I would feel better about it if I knew I wouldn't have to try and change the needle or figure out how to put the thread each time I bring it out. I only use it every four or five years! I did make a rag quilt with it, and I've always wanted to make a real quilt...maybe one day. I'll be watching to see yours!
It's looking good!

Yay! I'm so proud of you! You are conquering something that I've not gotten my courage up for yet. Mine that I bought over a year ago still sits untouched. Way to go!
