Making Friends and Crawfishing at the Creek

Hello! Hope you all had a great weekend! Well no pumpkin update...no changes...I'll show you the harvest when the time comes. We have a new friend at our house. My daughter got a new kitten and her name is Cypher. Our dog, Cocoa, and cat, Abby are starting to make friends with Cypher. She is a really sweet kitten!

Abby our great big Ragdoll playing with Cypher and Cocoa "Miss Jealous" coming to check out the new kitty toy.

Cypher has been with us a little over a week and now. Abby is letting her take a snooze with her. Well, shall I say she is tolerating Cypher snoozing with her. Can you see Abby staring her down through her fur?

Next we have some new pictures from the creek. 2 nights ago, my daughter and her boyfriend went to investigate the creek. We knew we had holes down there made by a critter but decided frogs lived in them...why? Because we saw a frog in one! LOL!!! Well come to find out...the frog must have been just visiting his friend the crawfish! Yikes they are scary looking. BF decided he wanted to catch one....ha! The crawfish had other plans! They sure have sharp pinchers...they sliced up a rubber worm and cut through twine! Here are some pics of our adventure....

Shining the Mighty Light in the crawfish hole. Note: crawfish DO NOT like light!

Can you see his claw!?! Yikes! *Click to enlarge*

Trying to fish him out with fishing line and a rubber worm. Nope didn't work! At least we had a good time!

Hugs to all!

Kim

  9. Well..I have one dog who not long ago decided to tolerate our one cat after almost a year!! I can't imagine a kitten with these two. But aren't kittens the sweetest things?!

I finally showed my girls a crawdad earlier in the summer. Those things can HURT if they pinch!!

  12. OH, my younger brother and I used to catch those crawdaddies and (this will be a graphic description here) RIP their little tails off. Then we used their little ripped off tails for bait to fish in a little creek not far from our house! We spent many a summer day traveling what seemed like miles on that creek (mom had NO idea where we were and wasn't worried cuz it was a much different time!). We made sandwiches and had lunch while we fished and hung out.

Oh, the little kitten looks so sweet! I just LOVE your older cat's espression "through the fur".

Somehow I missed your flea market finds, too! You "done good!" I like everything you found!

    Have a great Mon.! Dana

Crawfish brought back memories of my brother catching them by the river we used to live near. They were creepy then and creepy now. I used to run away. My daughter starts college too on the l8th. Criminal Justice major but I'm not sure I like that direction but her choice!lol I look at it as more worry if she decides on police work. I told her be a lawyer she sure can argue!lol Have a great Monday, Jeannette

  17. What a fun post! Loved the animal pictures. The kitten is a cutie! Reminds me of what Bama probably looked like when she was little. She's sitting here staring at me right now in front of the computer screen, lol. And your big Persian kitty is gorgeous and the doggy looks like a sweetie!

As for the crawdads, I grew up playing in and around creeks, but never was one to try to catch critters. Guess it's just as well I didn't from the sound of things.
