Frankenmuth

Hello all!!!
We had a great time in Frankenmuth. The day started out foggy and gloomy and ended sunny-ish, some clouds and haze. The pictures looked sunnier than it really seemed to me. We started out at Bronner's. We spent about 2 and a half hours here. I did come home with a bunch of new ornaments for this Christmas and a few for gifts. I am going back in October for a ladies day, and will be picking up a few more gifts. There is soooo much to see! We learned that they have 26,000 visitors a day and that the electric bill is $1,000.00 a day to run the place!

The west entrance to Bronner's.

After lunch at Oma's at the Bavarian Inn Lodge we headed across the wooden bridge to take the riverboat tour. It was fairly interesting. We did learn a few interesting facts like the bridge took 2 years to build and 2 oxen that walked for (I forget how many) days to pull it across the river. The river is the Cass River.

The Bavarian Belle.

The covered bridge, it has name and it escapes me! Sorry!

Looking over the Cass River

Another view of the bridge.

The River Place, lots of shopping here! The hot buttered popcorn is here too but I was too stuffed from lunch :-(

This water fall starts up at the River Place and travels all the way to the river.
A fall display at The River Place.

After the River Place we headed into town and went through some of the shops and tried some cheese at the cheese shoppe. I didn't buy much, just a few stocking stuffers and some candy. We had a fun filled day though.

Sunday was filled with grocery shopping and errands. Had to stock up the Chicago apartment with food. I try to do this on Friday's but I rested this last Friday and hubby forgot to email me a list. Oh well. This weekend we will get some relaxing at home in.

I hope you all had great weekends too! Have a great day! Hugs!

The Weekend

Morning! I wish I had a picture to show you but that will have to wait. Today is a day to rest up for the weekend. Tomorrow we are going to Frankenmuth, MI! It's a German town with lots of cute shops, scenery and the best food! There is an outlet mall near by and it is home to the world's largest Christmas store...Bronner's. While we are there we, also, plan to go on the riverboat tour. We have never gone on the tour before so that will be fun. I am really looking forward to the popcorn store. They have sooo many flavors of popcorn and you can get hot buttered popcorn there...soooo good! I promise to take a lot of pictures while we are in Frankenmuth!

Sunday, we will just do the usual errands. Not too exciting.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Hugs!

I Won a Giveaway, A Treasure and My Daughter's Project

Morning!!! I have a lot to show you today. First off, I won a Giveaway from Nancy at Manic for Mosaics. This heart is so very beautiful!!! Thank you so much Nancy! I just love it!

Hanging alone so you can see all it's loveliness!

In it's new home on the shelf in the dining room.

This basket I found at the thrift store for only $1. I have a rooster/chicken thing going on right now! I need to find some more treasures for the top of the fridge. Please excuse the dust!

Next we have my daughter's project. We got her this cute little sewing machine for Christmas last year. This is the first chance she has had to pull it out and try her hand at sewing. This machine has done really nice on all the different fabrics that are in this baby quilt. There is flannel, a soft fluffy duck center, satin and regular cotton. I only have a picture of the center right now. She just started the side strips.

A great starter machine. The only draw back is the reverse lever is manual.

The center of the baby quilt. I will post a photo of the finished project.

Ok, I am off to work on the laundry that piled up while I was resting. That is one thing I really dislike about needing to rest...the laundry piles up!

Hope you are having a great day! Hugs!

2 Weekends Ago

Hello!!! Sorry it has been a while! I have been getting some good rest :) and am beginning to slowly feel like my normal self! Hubby didn't have to go back to Chicago until Monday morning, so that was nice.

2 weeks ago, the remnants of Hurricane Ike stopped by for a visit. He liked us so much that he left behind 6-8 inches of rain. I am so thankful that our house is built up on a hill!!!

This is a picture of our "valley" near the creek, earlier in the summer.

This is our garden during the rains of Ike. The day after this picture you couldn't see the pumpkins at all. The water went down rather quickly the next couple of days thank goodness.

This past weekend we didn't do a whole lot and that was nice. I did teach my daughter to use her new sewing machine. (I will post a photo of what she has been working on, later). I do not sew because I am terrible at it but I can teach her how to sew because believe it or not I do know how...lol. It didn't take her long to be able to sew her lines straight and get going on a project. She even plans to make a small quilt for a baby shower next week. She picked up a kit from Joann's and it seems pretty easy if you can sew a straight line! (I may have to try this sewing thing again...we'll see).

Last week, I won a giveaway!!! I will post a photo of that in the next couple of days too. I need to get a photo of it...I hate being behind on my blogging! Thank goodness my computer decided that it will cooperate and read memory cards again! I will get photos taken tomorrow of my daughter's project, my prize and a thrift find from a few weeks ago.

I sure have missed updating, thanks so much for all your continued prayers and well wishes! Have a great day everyone! Hugs!

I've Been Tagged and Thank You

Morning!!!

Thank you all so much for your warm wishes and prayers! Every time I post that I'm not feeling well and you all start sending your prayers upward, I start feeling better right away! I am so thankful for all you!!! You are the bestest blogging friends ever!!! Like I said, I am starting to feel better already and I feel very blessed!

I've been tagged!!! Jeannette at Sincerely Yours and Miss Rhea at Miss Rhea's Sweet N Shabby Roses tagged me with Seven Random Things About Me. This is going to be hard I think... I will see what I come up with here.

1. I have a soft spot for animals, especially cats!

2. I have lived in Michigan my whole life but will be moving to Chicago full-time in the next couple of years. My hubby is there during the week now and I go back and forth from time to time.

3. I have had fibromyalgia, thyroid disease and 2 leaky heart valves for about 25 years. The fibro and heart valves limit me some but I try to live as normal of life as possible. I am thankful because I know I could have much worse ailments.

4. I love babies! I was a nurse's aide before getting married and worked at a local hospital. I worked mostly in pediatrics and the nursery. I would often be called off other floors to take care of the sickest newborns...getting them ready to be life flighted to the Children's Hospital.

5. Math boggles my mind. I literally feel dizzy and overwhelmed by story problems and other complex math problems!

6. New technology boggles my mind too! I usually have someone set up my new phones and computers because it is just to crazy for me! LOL!

7. I have a real issue being around negative people. (I'm like Miss Rhea with this).

Well, I hope you found that interesting! I tag anyone who would like to play along! I personally love to read everyone's random answers!

Have a great day! Hugs!

I'll Be Back

Hello everyone!

I am so sorry for the lack of posts and lack of visiting! My fibromyalgia doesn't seem to want to let up and another one of my mystery health issues has reared it's ugly head. I get severely anemic for what appears to be no reason...I have had testing and they just aren't sure what is going on. It happens every year or 2. I get recover rather quickly but it takes a lot of sleep, red meat and prenatal vitamins (because they are high in iron and don't upset my tummy).

In other news...our creek flooded the lower part of our yard this weekend due to 6-8 inches of rain. (We call that area the valley since our house sits quite high up...thank goodness). The pumpkins still on the vine were no longer visible. The pink flamingo looked right at home! I have a photo but my computer is also sick. It has decided it doesn't want to read memory cards any more. Luckily, my daughter has one that plugs in...I will post the pic soon!

Hope you all are having a great week! Miss you all! Hugs!

A Quick Peek

Good Morning! It's very fall-like this morning! BRRR! It's a beautiful day outside just a bit nippy.
Here is a quick peek at the supplies for my rubber stamp/craft class. I haven't decided which of the fall rubber stamps I will use so they are not shown. I think this project just might turn out the way I hope it will! Sometimes I have something pictured in my head and it just doesn't measure up but this just might ;)
You can find the big plastic clothespin in the Target Dollar Spot :-D (Click to enlarge)

Today I plan to complete this project to use as a sample for class.

Yesterday, I went to the nation's largest Salvation Army and yep it's right near my house! It is 50,000 square feet! I didn't pick anything up because the checkout line went to the back of the store! It was packed with new and used clothes and housewares. I will be going back, needless to say!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!!!

Hugs!

I'm Still Here

Morning! I'm still here, I just don't have anything significant to tell you all. We are trying to get use to the new fall schedule here. So far every week has been different but that should change to a "routine" soon.

This Friday, I am teaching a rubber stamp/craft class. So I have been gathering supplies for that and I will be off to Michael's to see what else I could add. I will have pictures to show you soon of what we are going to make.

I want to thank everyone for their kind comments on my new blog look! You are all very sweet! I do really like this new look better! I found the new banner here. I am not computer savvy enough to do this on my own :-) lol.

I hope you are all enjoying your Tuesday! I will have things to show you soon. I have one treasure that needs to be photographed and I will hopefully have my craft project done soon to show you.

Hugs!

Trying Out a New Look

Hello again! I have been feeling like my blog has needed a facelift. I may try one of those free templates but I am not too sure of my computer skills to change it. What do you all think of the new look?

Have a great night!
Hugs!

What I Did on My Summer Vacation!!!

Hello! Do you remember...the first week of school and having to write about what you did on your summer vacation? Well here is what I did on my summer vacation! Hubby had 4 days off to be in Michigan!!! We did a lot and I feel like I am still recovering!
The first thing we did on Saturday was picking some of our pumpkins!!! Aren't they cute!?! Yesterday I checked on the pumpkins in the patch and we now have one rotting. How sad!

Later in the day on Saturday we headed to the Detroit Tigers game! There's Magglio Ordonez in the right field!!! Unfortunately they lost but it was still fun! The nachos were sooo good!

On Sunday we went to the apple orchard for cider and donuts. We picked up a 1/2 bushel of Jonathan apples too. Yummy!!! No pictures...sorry...what was I thinking...I forgot to take a picture!

Monday we headed up north to Caseville to visit my parents and to do some treasure hunting! I found a yard sale on my parents street and we headed to the beach for buried treasure!

We found $1.73 buried on the beach along with a pull tab and a rusty. My dad found 3 pennies and a Barbie heart charm. He would have found more but he has the gift of gab and stopped to talk to a neighbor. We had so much fun! Can't wait to go again.

At the yard sale, the lady had everything marked 1/2 off. This isn't a great picture but I found a set of 4 of these snack sets. They are in perfect condition and only cost $5! I really like this rectangular design.

Tuesday we went to lunch and packed hubby back up to leave again. It really was a nice weekend! Now it's time to get things clean and organized around here. That is going a little slow...can't use the water because of a big water main break up the road. So we have to boil water for everything...no fun! But in comparison to Louisiana I am not complaining! I hope all our blogging friends are save and doing well post hurricane! Praying for you all!

So, that's what I did on my summer vacation! Hope you enjoyed yours too!

Hugs!
